Star Furniture’s story began in 1907 in West Union, West Virginia, as a small operation with just seven employees—part funeral home, part furniture store—serving neighbors in practical, personal ways. Founded by Herman Stuck, deliveries were once made by horse and buggy, and it wasn’t uncommon for the team to help furnish a home while also supporting a family through loss. From the very beginning, Star was rooted in community, service, and care for people.
Over the decades, Star Furniture grew alongside the families it served, guided by faith, hard work, and a belief that business should be done with purpose, integrity, and generosity. Through generations of the Spurlock family, the company weathered challenges, embraced change, and stepped forward during uncertain times, trusting that doing what was right would lead the way.
